"I purchased a butcher block counter top from you. I wanted to show you how beautiful it looks in my re-designed kitchen. Everyone who came to work in the kitchen, from the cabinet man to tile workers to floor people all first commented on the beautiful butcher block. It got lots of oohs and aahs. It still gets top billing for anyone who comes in to my house.
More importantly, it is the center of all activity in my kitchen. We prep food there (but of course we only cut food on the small cutting board you made for us!) open mail, serve drinks and snacks, entertain grandkids, lean over it for conversation over wine, prop candles atop, and toss bags of groceries and items after shopping. We stand around it and glide our hands up and down its smooth surface. I wipe it off with warm soapy water and dry it off maybe once a day, that is all I have ever done to it. It still looks absolutely dreamy, especially when we turn the pendant lights off and just turn on the under-counter lighting. The wood seems to absorb the warm light reflecting from these soft lights and acts as its own source of light! I have many wonderful and natural materials in my kitchen: cork floor, granite counter top, cracked, glazed backsplash tiles, and antique glass in the cabinets. The most wonderful of all the elements is this smooth as butter, softly curving, thick, and tightly grained butcher block counter top. I absolutely love it! Thank you for your fine workmanship. I so much appreciate your attention to detail and obvious love for excellence in your talent. Thank you so much."

p.s. Notice that in one of the photos you can see the Boos triangle. A few people have remarked that I left it on there and thought I had overlooked it. No, I placed it there purposely to honor its creator.

WINNER OF FOOD & WINE MAGAZINE'S BEST NEW CHEFS OF 2009 - CHEF KELLY ENGLISH "John Boos cutting boards were a staple in my parents' kitchen throughout my childhood. I watched my father prepare many meals on Boos cutting boards. I prepared many of my first dishes with the help of Boos cutting boards as well.
I have my own restaurant now, and I'm proud to say that my own John Boos cutting boards are a staple in my kitchen."

"I LOVE my 24x24x16" thick Maple Boos Butcher Block! All of my friends and family are "Ga-Ga" over my new purchase and each one of them can't seem to keep their hands off of it. My husband and I had a pizza party in the newly renovated kitchen and EVERYONE commented on how beautiful and professional it made my kitchen space look. On more than one occasion, I caught my guests stealing longing glances at my Boos Block! Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and head downstairs for a drink of water. I check to make sure it is real and that my Boos Block still sits in its spot in my kitchen. It is there to greet me every morning!"

To John Boos & Co,
"I'd like to share in the "review" of our restaurant --- 4 Stars."
Restaurant Review:
"I rarely give restaurants four stars. It's not a rule or anything, but usually there is something that could be improved...We were led immediately to a beautiful hardwood table near the window. The fresh flower centerpiece and a candle gave it a nice, romantic feel"...(end of review)
"Your Table Tops are Great! I love them and I'm sure when we were reviewed this week they added that little extra touch of CLASS!!!!"

"The versatility of Boos boards are greatly appreciated in the Vie kitchen and at my home. My knife's edge is preserved better when working on wood versus plastic boards. Also, they are perfect for baking and pastry, for rolling doughs and kneading. We purchase the highest quality ingredients and equipment to help master our craft. The handcrafted boards fits right into this mold. Thanks for taking the time to produce something that makes our lives easier..."

"It is not often that I take the time to send an email but in this case I felt it necessary. I received as an anniversary present your round maple cutting board with stainless handles. It is BY FAR the most beautiful example of a cutting board that I have ever laid eyes on. It is wonderful to know that quality is still #1 with some companies. Thank you so much".

"I was reared in Newton and have lived in Alton, Illinois since my marriage 25 years ago. I am writing to commend you for your recent recognition in the "O at Home" magazine, Summer 2007 edition. I got a kick out of noting that Chef Art Smith, has a "John Boos hardwood workstation" in his outdoor kitchen!
Since my parents still live in Newton, I have passed your business for years. After viewing your web site I realize how little I actually knew about it! I sort of remember it as "Boos Butcher Block Shop" - I never recognized the variety of items you offer!"
Although I'm not fortunate enough to own any John Boos products, I still felt "proud" to see you identified in "O at Home."
Way to go!!

"Getting out your knives and oiling your cutting boards are part of the ritual of cooking and help a chef prepare for the day. Boos understands this and honors that ritual by offering chefs the finest cutting surface available. Just like the artisan producers and farmers we work with so we can create the food we do at Blackbird, John Boos Company is committed to honest quality and craftsmanship".

I just recently purchased, received, and assembled my John Boos Country Work Table that I had ordered off the internet from Chef Depot. It was built from solid hard maple in the natural oil finish (48" x 24" x 1-3/4" with one shelf). It is not too often that we receive compliments so I wanted to take the time and say that I ABSOLUTELY love the table and I couldn't believe how quickly I received it, especially with the holiday season upon us.
I had just recently finished building my kitchen with natural maple cabinets and everybody kept on saying that I needed an island to fill the "empty" space.
I did not want a permanent island but I did want that extra counter/table space. In other words, this table looks and functions wonderfully! I know that if I had bought a similar item that was made in China that I would not
have received the quality that I had received from you. Keep up the good work and keep building them in the U.S.A!!!
